From the start, the company’s strategy was aimed at staging and presenting daily-running musicals based on the advanced theatre technologies. In 1997, through consultations with Cameron Mackintosh Limited, LINK’s team acquired profound knowledge in production and management techniques for running a world class musical. These skills were then matured in the process of launching the first Russian daily-running musical NORD-OST. Today LINK’s team is represented by highly qualified managers who speak the same professional and business language with their Western colleagues. LINK is headed by Georgi Vasilyev who is also the producer of the musical NORD-OST. NORD-OST, Moscow Production The first Russian world-level musical NORD-OST opened up in Moscow on October 19, 2001. A Russian story, music and dance combined with the splendour and scale of Broadway and West End musicals guaranteed NORD-OST’s smash hit in Russia. The Moscow production of NORD-OST received an overwhelming response from the audience: month after month, on a daily schedule, full houses, standing ovation. Theatre experts also had their say: as the best musical, NORD-OST was awarded the "Golden Mask" - the highest prize of the Russian national theatre. The successful run of the NORD-OST musical in Moscow was cut short by the tragic events of October 2002. Despite all the damages, the musical was revived in February 2003 and has been adapted to go on tour. In 2005 the production might be shown outside Russia. NORD-OST, International Version NORD-OST with its stunning sets, state-of-the-art technology and amazing special effects is certain to impress even the most demanding Western audience. And yet, NORD-OST has its own Russian flavour: the authors followed the strong Russian musical and theatrical traditions and the performance preserved the national cultural identity. The musical is based on the famous novel The Two Captains by Veniamin Kaverin, a romantic story about courageous people. The life of two generations is shown against the background of the epochal upheavals Russia lived through in the first half of the XX century. The spectators see the historic events through the eyes of the musical’s characters and arrive at a new perception of Russia which breaks the old clichés. This musical is a fabulous family entertainment. NORD-OST’s principal secret lies in the exciting plot that wins the hearts and minds of spectators of all ages. Technically, the Moscow production of NORD-OST is one of the most sophisticated shows in the world, and in the touring version, the creative team managed to keep all the major special effects. In every performance the life-size bomber plane will be landing on stage right in front of the spectators’ eyes.
