The NORD-OST Musical Resumes Its Tourist Program

January 28, 2003

Madrid's international tourism trade fair FITUR'2003 (January 29-February 2) will become the first one for the NORD-OST musical after the hostage situation in Moscow in October. The stand featuring the NORD-OST theatrical project has become part of the All-Russian exposition.
Since its opening night the NORD-OST musical has been called a new sightseeing place in Moscow: over 300 thousand people have seen the performance during the first year of its daily run. This musical has become the first Broadway-level show in Russia: a life-size plane is landing on stage during the performance and a legendary schooner frozen in the polar expanses is rising from the broken ice in front of the spectators' eyes. The musical is based on a classic national plot the "Two Captains" novel is a story of love and adventures shown against the background of the epochal events taking place in the Russian history in the beginning of the XX century. Specially for guests from abroad, the libretto of the musical in 9 foreign languages was always available in the theatre foyer.
Not once has NORD-OST participated in the travel trade events and it also works in close cooperation with companies specializing in in-coming tourism in Moscow. However, NORD-OST had to abstain from participating in London's WTM'2002 (World Travel Market) in November - at that moment the future of the project was still unclear.
Starting from February 8, 2003 the performance will again be shown daily on the same stage in Moscow, and NORD-OST is resuming its program for tourists. The project's initiators hope that the guests of Russia will come without fear to the refurbished venue and that the NORD-OST heroes touching story of love will bring bright, cheerful emotions to them and the spectators will take home warm memories of their visit to Moscow.
