NORD-OST Team Started for the North Pole
April 09, 2002
On April 9, 2002, the creative team of the NORD-OST musical boarded the air-plane AN-74 to start for the extreme northern point of the Earth. Contrary to the initial schedule, the flight had been delayed 24 hours because of the weather conditions en route Moscow – Murmansk –Frantz-Joseph Land – the North Pole.
Georgii Vasilyev and Aleksei Ivaschenko, the musical creators, and Ekaterina Guseva and Andrey Bogdanov, performers of the leading roles, will spend several days in the severe polar conditions. An improvised runway has already been arranged on a drifting monolithic ice-float, closest to the voyage destination, and a temporary polar camp has been set up of mobile modules. At the point where the imaginary terrestrial axis is located, it is planned to hoist the Nord-Ost flag with the motto on it: "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield".
This daring expedition of the Nord-Ost creative team has become possible due to "Ultra-Travel", the company which supported the arrangement of this trip.
In the absence of Ekaterina Guseva and Andrey Bogdanov, their roles will be performed by the understudies. Broadway technologies used in producing the NORD-OST musical guarantee that the substitutions in the performance will not effect the quality of the spectacle.
