I am writing from New Orleans in the United States. I hope that this translates correctly. I first became aware of "Nord-Ost" last October when I heard the news on October 23. As I also work in the theatre (composer and producer of my own shows), the situation was more than just a news item on the television. Through the website www.thenordost.com, I learned about the actual show. I heard the music, and saw photos and videos. My heart broke as I followed the events. But because of this wonderful show, I have learned about a country of which before I knew very little. I have been learning to speak and read Russian. I am even able to sing and understand some of the "Nord-Ost" songs that I have come to love. I have the deepest respect and admiration for all who are part of "Nord-Ost". And I do agree that the show should be thought of as something good. Recently I was on a radio show here in New Orleans. I played a song from the CD and talked about "Nord-Ost". I want people here to know about the show, too. I hope and believe that with time, people's perception will change. I have heard Mr. Vasiliev say that the show is like a child that needs to be taken care of. He seems to be such a strong-willed man, and a gentleman. He and Mr. Ivashenko, along with their fellow producers, cast, and crew, have, with "Nord-Ost", already done so much to bring our two cultures together. Please continue to keep your faith in the good of people. I for one have been inspired by the show, and every night before performances of our own show, I take a moment
to be thankful for "Nord-Ost". Best wishes from Harry Mayronne.
